Ingredients
- ▢1 cup all purpose flour
- ▢1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- ▢1/4 teaspoon salt
- ▢1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
- ▢1 cup packed brown sugar
- ▢1 teaspoon vanilla
- ▢2 tablespoons milk
- ▢1 egg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350F degrees. Grease an 8-inch square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray or shortening and set it aside.
- In a small bowl (affiliate link), whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well blended and set it aside.
- In a medium size saucepan, melt the butter on low heat. Remove from the heat and with a whisk orwooden spoon (affiliate link), stir in the brown sugar, vanilla, milk and egg until creamy and well blended.
- Add the flour mixture and stir until just combined then stir in up to 1 cup total of any optional additions.
- Spread batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake 20-25 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out almost clean.
- Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.
- Cut into 16 squares.
